PI Vision displays are often the final interface between PI data and the person making a decision. Display reliability therefore requires more than checking whether the page loads.
Teams need visibility into the health and source of the data behind each important display.
Check source freshness
A value can remain visible after the source stops updating.
For important signals, compare the last update with the expected update interval. Make stale conditions visible to administrators and, where appropriate, to display users.
Check bad states and gaps
Review whether the underlying PI Points contain bad states or missing periods that can affect trends and calculations.
A current good value does not prove that the full historical period is complete.

A display trust indicator can show whether defined checks passed and provide access to source, data-quality, and change information.
The status must have a clear definition. It should not imply that the underlying physical measurement has been independently calibrated or certified.
